Was a fun game for a few weeks/month or two, but this game was supposed to be a largescale team based fps with simple graphics that work well enough with the gameplay being the main defining factor.
This game lasted like that somewhat for a few weeks. Between the heli pilot fiasco including internal 'feedback' members and now the continued push into an action-arcade shooter, complete with air strafing, drop shotting, sniper shot trails and glint, bunny hopping around corners, hyper meta smgs while spazzing out in every direction while in the air, then random circle strafing while all of the above to use a bandage or reload, gameplay.
Sound is abysmal, and not only is directional audio spotty at best half the time, but you'll end up hearing a team mate 3 buildings over but not the MLG monster chugging, smg wielding spastic that's approaching you from around the corner.
Oh, and that movement? Yeah, desync city.
Speaking of desync: Servers come in flavors from 60-240hz that I've seen so far. They have some that are reported as 23ms from me! So you'd expect it to be crisp gameplay, right? Nope. Get into the server and see the ping shoot up 3-4x instantly. Ok, that's whatever. At least things like hit reg should be great, right? Naw. Getting shot through terrain that you are massively out of LOS on frequently, die behind corners constantly, the works.
The players are a big problem of course, because they will abuse anything strong, but the problem is that the game lets it happen and does nothing to address it. Population id dwindling partially due to this because those, like myself, who bought it for the more Mil-sim-Lite appeal, while still being easily approachable by players sounded like a nice compromise on things like arma/squad and more mainstream FPS. But also partially because of longstanding issues that continue to go unaddressed for ages with no help in sight.
The game was misrepresented to many, and as more and more people leave for a myriad of reasons, only more will follow. Servers at prime time on most night in PST time zone are limited to a small handful of low ping servers (Lots of Bobs stuff, which pools clans and party groups because that's what they have left to play on mostly. So expect toxicity, the sweatiest try-hards hell bent on being the best at the detriment of every player, Mic spammers, racists (that get reported frequently with video clips, yet keep showing up), people that will hard grief you from both sides, and all sorts of things.
25-60% of the players on a side will be max range snipers, rather than actual recon players. You'll be playing on the same 4 maps 90% of the time on most servers if a vote option is available. Those maps are just meat grinders for the most part, or you'll be taking pot shots from snipers at the outermost reaches of the maps all day. Most medic players play the SMG COD brained mode, but will rarely rez/heal any one else. You'll get in squads of 7 Assault all wearing the same black uniform, just run-and-gunning. The support class is a mess, and I hate that it's one of my favorite roles in games like BF over the years because it's damn near worthless half the time, but they keep making changes that are hard detrimental to it for some reason. The weapon selection is boring, and minimal for it, and if you see one in the game, 9/10 times they will never offer ammo, drop an anti grenade trophy system, build heavily or make any attempt to suppress because most of that stuff doesn't matter in the game enough to be worth it thanks to... You might have already guessed it: The terrible cod-arcade shooter that the game has become and continues to double down on.....
I have my fun for roughly 150h. The other 50 have been spent trying to find the fun things (to me) to do any more between rage quitting thanks to any of the above flaws, or I'm tired of trying to play the game the way it has been described.
I hate to tell people to avoid a game that clearly needs more players, but I honestly think, that without a serious overhaul, and scope narrowing to being either a tactical team based large scale fps, or being a cod-like action shooter with bigger maps. Until they actually start addressing what their plan for the game is, and the vision of that clearly and properly, it's just not worth buying because it could be the complete opposite, just like it's become for me.
Wait, if you're even considering.
