pretty much the normal type of game you expect from this genre. I'll give it a positive simply for how amusing it was to be a druid riding around on a skateboard leaving trails of deadly vines while shooting an autogun in random directions.
misc pros
No exp perk, they balanced exp so you cap all your skills over course of the game rather than making you waste a valuable slot on the perk
tech/perk tree has has low amount of 30% on aoe size scaling down to 1% each lvl after that. A few specific skills can get screenwide effects but those were intentionally. You won't have every one of skills hitting entire screen like so many games in this genre.
Class system is interesting as they have very different playstyles.
neutral
you get 3 melee skills, 3 ranged skills, 3 passive skills each run. Not having insane number of abilities is both good and bad. If you draw 3 bad skills you have no choice but to take 1 (no rerolls allowed) and losing 1 of your 6 hurts. The level up pool not being diluted w/ insane skill count means you have a good chance of leveling up the stronger skills you do have.
cons
each round starts off insanely slow. Your default melee/ranged weapons struggle to kill anything so if you don't1 have a damaged based class skill to carry you early on you have a serious problem hurting the first batch of boss(es) when they show up
Instead of a reroll/hold/purge for skills on level up, they give you the ability to penalize increase frequency of each skill at at max level it won't show up. Interesting take, the problem is the skills are terribly balanced and you likely want half of them to never show up. This game is very hoard based and there are too many non-damage w/ weak effects and non-aoe abilities that you will never want. Over the coarse of clearing all maps all difficulties I didn't even get a 5th of the currency required to remove them.
Enemies can get huge damage buffs and bosses will kill you in 1-2 shots w/ telegraphed skills, 4-5ish w/ heat seeking ranged, ouch. Well some classes lack way to obtain decent healing. That leaves you to flee in search for red crystals hoping for a butterfly healing item to appear, but as w/ most games in this genre bosses teleport to you if you get too far, and go figure it is often in front of you. Needless to say classes w/ a way of self healing have a huge advantage over the others.
