First off, the smart NPC's are pointless as they give you false advice and actually only know basic things about the camp, if you ask where to find an item like matches, they tell you a place that doesn't exist, ask them to show you and they say "sure, follow me" but they never move. they're just a gimmick to interest you, they don't help.
Then there's the game, If you're looking for a fetch quest game collecting 1000's of items for a small reward. this is it. (effort to reward ratio is, 100% effort = 2% reward) you'll mostly collect wood and stone, and one quest is 100 wood, 100 stone. and 10 rope. taking about 40 mins. when previous mission were similar requiring hours of foraging just to hand it over for a small reward. one quest is 3 pieces of cooked meat requiring 1 meat and the other item wasn't programmed in and just says "item description" with no picture. so you just have to hope you have it.
all quests are fetch this and fetch that. soldiers and zombies drop nothing once you kill them. there is a place where there are 60 soldiers that require 14-17 hits to kill, (even with headshots) There is nothing to do but fetch, kill zombies and craft stuff for the camp leader or to reinforce the camp but zombies never come to the camp as the always stop about 50 feet from it.
You don't get stronger or build any attributes, you just fetch stuff you can't keep. you're goal is to buy better weapons and armor and eventually your own piece of land to build on. in over 10 hrs I have earned 20,000 gold coins and the purchase requires 3 million, yep i said 3 million. I have estimated about 1500 hrs to purchase land but you will never be able to afford the land because you'll have to spend your cash to restock weapons and ammo that you just spent 40 minutes collecting but lost because you died.
The game auto saves and you can't start a new game or go back to a previous save, the game you start is forever the game you get. so if you had a bad start or think you coudl do better with a fresh start, tough luck.
I tried my hardest to finish it but it was so monotonous. It never stopped giving me massive fetch quests that took hours and progressively get harder. And when you spent 40 mins collecting stuff only to lose it all, it's depressing. It was fun for the first hour until you just turned into errand boy.
I spent 12+ hrs of my life that I'll never get back thinking it would get better, but it just got worse. "if i knew then, what i know now, I would have never purchased this game" there's no fixing this, it's just a hollow game. You start off homeless and you'll finish homeless, I 100% guarantee you'll give up and agree with me.
