When I first played this game, I hated it. That was because I migrated straight from Call of Duty. I started playing Insurgency Sandstorm a lot more, and now it's my favourite first person shooter. I love the realism of the game, the gun physics, almost everything about it is perfect. It has a very wide variety of weapons to use, and reloading them is realistic and satisfying. This game strikes me more of a wartime simulator more than a traditional FPS. The game is way better than CoD because you actually need a merit of skill to succeed.
There is a running joke with my mates when we see people rushing checkpoints and running around spraying, we say they're "CoD Players." Jumping around sliding and basically doing back-flips won't get you kills in this game, you need to use teamwork, tactics and mindfulness. The only issue I have is sometimes the AI is cheap and kills you in the most annoying and unrealistic ways, such as 100 yard aimbot with a pistol, or shooting you through a wall. They seem to do that if you play too well. Other than that, I reccomend the game.

Let me make it simple; Insurgency: Sandstorm by today standard has become like another classic hit of memory lane that share much similarity akin to L4D2 that always had a special place in our heart. The community and playerbase indeed had dwindle compare to their heyday. It did many wrong on the launch but over the time Sandstorm still manage pull themselves back together! This proven to swoop and won the heart of many, the amount of sold copy and positive review do not tell lies.
Sandstorm is still good on it own way from every aspect be it graphic, audio, gameplay or content even by today standard! Not a single game that share similar genre able to produce the same results close to Insurgency: Sandstorm. Just look at Battlebit, Six Days of Fallujah, Hell Let Loose, Ready or Not and etc etc they can't withstand or hold their candles against the time of trial like Insurgency: Sandstorm ever did. I'll said go and grab a copy of Sandstorm today! Enjoy the fun and experience while it still last, for the discounted price it was definitely a value deal purchase anyone ever had.
