I'll be honest, I bought this game because I was craving an open world driving game. There's not many options and I've been pleasantly surprised.
At it's core the game is really good, the worlds are big and fun to explore and there's a ton of collectables and a lot of lego charm, but it's really let down by the bizarre choice to lock lego bricks off behind whats basically a battle pass and an odd choice to monetise vehicles. There are even daily and weekly challenges as if this game is supposed to be some kind of live service, but that's just not what the game is, it's just, really weird.
If this game was a festival of lego which showers you with new bricks and vehicles and tons of different events it would be great. There's enough content there to do it, but instead it just feeds you little drips and drabs of cash to to spend in the "store" There's just no way you'd be able to play this game enough to earn everything in the 4 battle passes, or enough cash to buy the vehicles you'd want without spending money, and that's just a huge shame.
This game had the potential to be a really good collectathon and instead it just kind of sucks. I've beat the game and I don't intend to play hundreds of hours more to unlock everything I supposedly bought. I regret buying the premium version. The standard version in a sale for £10-15 would've been alright, but £75 is absolutely insane.

I feel like returning this. It's actually a good racing game, though some might be disappointed by the vehicle customization compared to past lego racing titles. It's not as bad as I thought it was, but it is a little limited and I see why they did that. Each vehicle has a 'deck', containing the basic underbelly and wheels of the vehicle. This is obviously done to ensure consistency in the handling and driving of vehicles. It's only a little disappointing that I'm unable to make absolutely wacky and nonsensical designs that don't work. So long as whatever design you have in your head fits onto the 'deck', you're good to go.
But why do I still feel like returning it? You might be wondering. That's because the game requires a 2K account in order to even play the game. It won't even take you to the menu unless you have a 2K account linked. Might not be a big deal, if it also didn't lock some content behind the 2K account requirement. Specifically, the game wants me to 'complete my account information'. Which I'm not even going to bother with checking what it wants me to 'complete'. All I know is the game wants more information than merely linking a 2K account to my Steam account, and I refuse to hand over any additional information beyond that. 2K does try to incentivize people by offering a free, or early unlock, of a vehicle type, along with some in-game funds.
But I'm still mad they even want that additional information to begin with and have chosen lock content behind an 'info-wall'. I don't believe 2K, or any publisher, needs more info than is strictly necessary, and I'm tired of these companies all want me to make accounts on their own services (just so they can sell my data or use it without my approval outside the game). I haven't played a lot of it yet, but I do want to give it a try, since the vehicle customization isn't quite as bad as I initially thought. But the account linking, and requiring of additional information, leaves a really bad taste in my mouth, so much so that even though I only spent $12, I feel like returning the game. If that isn't as big a deal for you, as it is for me, then I recommend the game. If you do buy the game though, given the customization options, walled-off content - both in-game and starting the game (I hope there is nothing else), and micro-transaction content, I would definitely recommend getting at a significant discount. If you pay more than $15 for this, I'd probably say you got ripped off.

Well... this game has its upsides and downsides... let me list them
Pros
-i can make my own car out of bricks. (i cant though because i have the imagination of a brick)
-Races are extremely fun and chaotic, almost like mariokart... but with Lego
-story is so funny even to a 14 year old
-physics are easy to learn and hard to master
Cons
-it has micro-transactions... even for a paid game! and they sometimes include basic necessary parts like large tiles, completely atrocious.
-you cant build your own base of your car, so it limits creativity. And you can pay for more!
-the game is quite short, only taking 10 hours to complete the entire story
-some modes (e.g the defending and rescue modes) are completely unbalanced and are built for multiplayer, so if you don't have friends then it will be extremely tricky
-the price is way too high for what you are getting, especially with the micro-transactions
-other races once you get used to them are extremely easy during late game, but the sky cup grand Prix is way too hard
overall
I thing you should only get the game when it is on sale, and do not get the season pass at all. it is a complete waist of money
