Darwinia Review (ScarfKat)
A very simple, slow, and chill classic. Not a typical RTS in much of any way as you can only have 5 units max, on top of ordering swarms of Darwinians around. Most of the game is clearing out the level with a Squad or 2, using Engineers to activate structures/spawn points, and gather enemy souls along the way (which makes more Darwinians), and then using those Darwinians to complete the level's main objective. There's a surprising variety in the contexts of these levels though, so it doesn't really get stale imo.
Due to the slow pacing and general chill vibe of the game, I find it most fun to boot up, do a level or 2, and then come back to it again another day. It's a simple but satisfying gameplay loop that's just really fun to interact with. Good game. I'm glad it works so much better on modern systems now as well, as I've not had any issues or bugs or anything.
