Firmament Review (ironforward)

I was hoping the negative reviews for this game were just being harsh, but unfortunately, the haters were right.

The game immediately ruins its atmosphere by speaking gibberish to you right out of the gate, and that never improves; the game will yap over every potential moment of awe or intrigue, never giving you a moment to first take in your surroundings and be a little mystified. The story falls on its face right from the start and never recovers.

The puzzles never get clever; instead, opting to waste your time by hiding sockets and building in long stretches of walking/climbing/lift-riding back and forth. There's a lot of knowing what to do, but it takes much longer than it should to actually do it. All interactions that aren't just plugging into a socket and turning it on are summed up with "slowly move the platform or object to the correct position." Most of the puzzles can be brute-forced because there's no real complication to them; they're just a list of steps that usually only have 1 way you can interact, so if one socket isn't working, go to the other socket and, hey, you figured it out!

There's almost no payoff for completing any of the puzzles. The few puzzles that do something cool when you complete them are few and far between. A lot of the time, you get nothing or just annoyingly loud sounds instead of getting to see something happen in the world because of your actions.
