Floodland Review (Norfalk)
This game is barely beta quality. There are many game breaking bugs that have not been addressed in months. Limited gameplay, lack of direction, and an extensive lack of polish make this game pointless. Every game is literally just the same exact islands, but with their locations changed. Save your money, don't buy it.
Some of the game breaking bugs I have run into:
1) Saves getting stuck and failing to load. Doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it sucks. I can get a lot done in a short amount of time, so I lose a lot of progress. Yes there is autosave, but if you don't mind your game locking up for a little bit every time it does it, maybe this will lessen the blow. I don't like having to redo crap, no matter how much.
2) Quest line getting stuck because of over zealous requirement to bring electricity to every single person. I've electrified every building. Every, single, building. Which you have to do manually. Just why? Even double checking by deconstructing all habitats and replacing with new does absolutely nothing.
3) Vanishing barges with people on them... I mean seriously?
4) Banish that clan? Buggy as all hell. Sometimes they don't all leave, then you lose the option to banish them. Sometimes they leave, only to come back. Again, no option to banish them returns.
5) Pathing and basic logic. Workers live too far away!! Even when there are four habitable buildings sitting empty right next to their workplace. Hampered even further by an overly limited range.
6) Your pathfinder party even with no additional people and plenty of supplies, will just starve to death. Rare, but have had it happen twice in my last two playthroughs.
7) Some buildings when you deconstruct them will get stuck at 100%, but not vanish. You have to reload the game for it to complete. There is no option to cancel the deconstruction or take any other method to remedy.
8) Some buildings will not upgrade, they just sit at 0%, maybe reloading the game will get them to go, but faster to just destroy and rebuild. You can also just cancel the destruction and leave it.
Limited Gameplay and Lack of Polish:
1) The UI bogs down late game, many options are redundant. Tech screen and Build screen category order are inverted.
2) Tech tree is an absolute mess. Lacking extensively.
3) Not all places can be connected. Even though you can climb and dive everywhere, your people can't do a lot of basic things. Like having rope bridges, for places where you can not build pathways or stilted platforms.
4) Some buildings can be deconstructed, but some can not, for no reason at all.
5) Can not remove renewable resources like Trees, etc.
6) Fences can not be restored or deconstructed, but some you can build over?
7) Housing is, an afterthought. The whole system was not well made.
8) Pathways blending in with the ground making it hard to see where you have placed them. Then deconstructing them isn't always a sure thing.
9) Vastly limited ranges on things that should not have limited ranges.
10) Places that should have limited ranges, having no range indicator.
11) Going from Medium to Large storage giving you barely any additional space.
12) Reclaimed buildings having barely more capacity than your generic options, yet taking up a lot more ground space.
13) Same islands, just in a different spot. If you've played it once, that's it.
14) Notifications just fly off the screen.
15) Game drags you away from what you are doing for certain quest/scenario events.
I could probably go on and on, more than I already have. Why am I so upset with this game? Because I feel that it likely went on sale as a last ditch cash grab for a game that probably isn't getting fixed. The last word from the devs was nearly 5 months ago.
