Ghostrunner Review (Gramamanamanees)

While it wasn't what I expected i was still interested when starting Ghostrunner. It's closer to hotline miami than a traditional movement FPS. Each room is solvable using multiple different forms of movement and it definitely starts out as a fun experience where you feel like a cyber ninja. The freerunning segments are fantastic and the movement is well done. The game starts to lose its luster during combat when you realize that no matter how much flippy dipping you do some enemies will track you through walls and shoot you anyways.
There was seriously a point where I realized that circle strafing dodged more ranged attacks than using my sweet ninja abilities and that was very frustrating. Each encounter is like a mini puzzle but some of the pieces aren't playing fair. If you're a player who likes rehearsing and repetition so that you can get everything exactly right, this is a perfect game for you. I wanted a power fantasy with all the movement but dying in one hit to enemies that don't react realistically to you zipping around broke the illusion for me.
also the cybernet levels are dog ass. Who decided to take your cool parkour abilities away for a seek and find level?
