TheoTown Review (Cybershinobi)
I have a lot of city building games but this one is straightforward, just like the SimCity series. Specifically SimCity 3000, but with better features.
Positives:
+ The graphics and physics are so similar to SimCity 3000. It brings tons of nostalgia and even a book can run it
+ You can mod the game with plug-ins, like in SC3000 and SC4.
+ No DLCs that add basic stuff. The game is fully complete and moddable
+ Easy to use, but becomes more complex as your city grows
+ So many functionalities to explore, such as handpicking your own ploppable buildings
+ Quick results and feels rewarding to watch buildings grow and evolve
+ No unnecessary NPCs crying and talking to you every second that something happens
+ A lot of control on traffic, taxes, zones etc.
+ Cities are connectable to each other, in which you can even make dedicated cities to some zones
+ You can do more things than most of 3D city building games
Negatives:
- Menus are a bit confusing and getting lost sometimes
- As someone who uses shortcuts in city builders, they're a bit scuffed in this game
- RCI buildings change every second, unless you mark them as "untouchable". Funny thing is they kept this "feature" from SC3000
- The pattern can be a bit too griddy and without diagonals too
If you're like me, looking for a simple isometric city builder, try this one out. It's even on mobile.
