Wavetale Review (Tobi0812)

It is sad for me, really. It is sad for me that I have to say that I don't recommend Wavetale.
I played the demo on the gamescom back in august and I loved it. It made so much fun and I was very excited for the release on 12th December 2022. I purchased it three minutes after it was released. During the first week after release, it has a 10 % discount - 27 Euro instead of 30 Euro.
I won't judge the price. A lot of people say it is too high but I won't judge it because game development is a way more than most people see (I developed games by my own).
What I can say is that the game has around 3 - 4 hours of gameplay.
The time I played made a lot of fun. I had fun jumping around, explore the islands, read and collect everything and so on. The platforming made fun and the general art style is very charming for me.
This fun was dulled a lot by the negative aspects that still need polishing or fixes from the developers. The game crashed every half an hour, I can't even finish it because the game just doesn't open anymore and if it does and I click on "Continue", it loads an eternity and won't continue.
Besides the crashes, the gameplay makes a lot of fun but has a lot of fallbacks, for example that objects and shadows just pop in.
The camera has weird behavior as well. For example when you walk upstairs and dash, the camera gets crazy and may stuck inside the stairs.
I was excited a lot for Wavetale. I accepted the price because it was very funny for me. However, the final game is not what I expected and I would not recommend it.
