Do not buy this game. Do not get it on sale. Do not accept it as a freebie. If someone gives it to you as a gift, decline it so they can get a refund. Several hours into the game (i.e., too late for a refund), I encountered the "Magnet Puzzle/Detonation" bug. This bug breaks the game. You cannot progress in the game without solving the magnet puzzle. But immediately after putting the magnets on the board, I could not move them. I could not solve the puzzle. This is a known bug, and it has always been there. I tried downloading/using the Daedalic save game from their website, which is supposed to be the Developer's fix. It did not work. I downloaded a Hex editor to try to edit my save file, as other users have done, and I couldn't figure it out. To be clear, I should not have had to do any of that. The game is broken for me. I cannot progress.
Here's the thing: As of this review, Deponia is 11 years old. It has multiple sequels. And this bug, this game breaking bug, has been known by the developers for about as long as the game has existed. They cannot be bothered to create a fix for it. Do not buy this game. Do not support developers who don't care if their games actually work after they have taken your money.
