Magicka İnceleme (CamphoraSun)
I managed to complete the Adventure mode despite the game crashing every 20 minutes or so, and I can say I'm not looking forward to doing that ever again, neither I'll be trying any of the DLCs. Overall, the game is very unpolished from the technical point of view. Constant crashing, achievements not working, bugs during gameplay (UI dissapears, not being able to cast spells on self, during the zeppelin fight you can respawn in the air, dying instantly...).
But even if I look away from the bugginess and focus solely on the game itself, I still feel let down. It's a shame, and I feel bad for giving Magicka thumbs down, because I thought this would be a really cool concept - combining elements to create magic spells? What a great idea! Well, it obviously was a better idea on paper than in the actual game. Basically, it feels like playing Path of Exile, but with no life bar, every spell being a 5 button combination (great thing when there's 100 enemies on every screen) and not even the complex spells seem to be doing much damage. Some might say I should probably try playing with friends and that it's more fun that way, but I can already imagine the mess with constantly killing each other with laser beams and badly placed reflective shields.
I usually comment on the story, the characters and the overall visuals of the games I review, but it's hardly worth the effort in this case. Why? Because there hardly is any story or characters. It's just a marathon of pop culture references and it gets old really quick.
In conclusion, I'm sorry for giving this game a bad review. I can imagine a lot of work has gone into making it and I don't want to belittle the effort, but I really didn't find the game enjoyable.
