Toem İnceleme (Vitlöksbjörn)

Nothing about TOEM will blow your mind, but you're guaranteed to smile - and it's quite likely you'll squee at the many, many specimens of cute. There's a smiling rock, there is a literal ball of fluff, there's an adorable giant deer from another dimension...
I'd say the game is very "hygge", but it's Swedish, so I won't. Instead, I'll tell you about what there is to do in this game. Taking pictures is one thing - you can zoom in, apply filters, write labels, snap selfies, use a tripod... and some things react when you zoom in on them! It's very fun to just point your camera everywhere and capture all the interesting sights that you can find.
But that's not all. In order to progress to the next region, you need to collect a set amount of stamps. How do you get stamps? By doing little favours, or quests, for the denizens of your current region. They're usually very simple, encourage you to explore, and quite often involve photography. Many (all?) of them are about making the world around you a little better, and often have small but lasting effects on the area. The sad guy that lost his sock will smile once you find it for him. Grandma's crashed car can be found in the traffic once you help her fix it up. Helping a fashion designer choose a hat for her collection will cause random NPCs in the area to wear said hat. It's great! The world feels very alive thanks to that.
And if that's not enough, the game has a completely optional sidequest which takes a page from Alba: A Wildlife Adventure: try to photograph one of every animal species found in the game! This game is a lot sillier than Alba, so realism takes a back seat and instead you get to snap photos of a bird on a skateboard and a racing snail. It's quite fun, and again, very cute.
All of that is nicely wrapped in an unique aesthetic style and pleasant soundtrack which sometimes goes quiet so you can take in the soundscape of the area. If all I've said is not enough to convince you to play this, then get this: this game has the Walker of Realms, the Disciple of Diogenes, the Vagabond Philosopher himself: Snufkin, aka Nuuskamuikkunen, aka Snusmumriken, aka Włóczykij. Playing his harmonica. And you can sit next to him and take a selfie. Surely you can't say no to this game after hearing this?
Flaws? I guess the game has no replayability, if that's something you care about. There's also absolutely no action, it's not that kind of game. Not that it seems to deter anyone - according to the achievement stats, 94% of players start the game, and a whopping 50% of them finish it. If that's not a sign of a pleasant, engaging experience, then I don't know what is. Enjoy!
