This game is amazing. The retro graphics of the game within the game appeal to me but I could see how they would turn other people off. It feels like a wonderful, sprawling adventure game and the graphics give it a creepy, surreal atmosphere. The meta game of the room is truly scary at times and always eerie. Things shift and change in your room depending on the biome you are exploring.

I primarily enjoy the game on the steamdeck and haven't had any issues with crashing or performance. I did run into a cloud save issue trying to play on the desktop. It started a new game, then an update caused cloud save to work and overwrite my save with the new, blank one. It wasn't a huge deal and I found a new easter egg so overall it worked out positive in the end.

My only complaint is with the difficulty. It's very easy to get lost or miss something and flail around for awhile. This is in line with older adventure games but it gets frustrating trying to just work out what I need to do next. This isn't a show stopper and it's totally worth retail price and a steal on any sort of sale.
