It is a roguelite exploration game, the game's plot is cool and has a surprising twist.
I think this game is a love letter combined with a tribute to Scotland. The Highlands is as much the protagonist as the main character. As we explore, we learn about the history and mythology of Scotland, the game gives us poems, folk tales - in my opinion this really makes the in-game Highlands a real, living place.
✅
Story. Twist at the end is both sad and endearing.
Highly rewarding exploration, shortcuts discovered via maps (which you also need to find on your own), lot of secrets.
A decent roguelite game with all the necessary mechanics perfectly refined.
Scottish mythology and folktales.
Good OST. They used the music of real folk bands, so it not only fits the theme, but also promotes Scottish music bands - additionally working to promote the region. Huge + for this.
Multiple accessibility and difficulty options allow everyone to customize the game to their needs.
Achievements connected to the game and possible to get without some convoluted steps.
😐
After one run of the narrated tale it starts over. It would have been better if the game started a completely different folktale instead.
❌
Map should be more readable. Correctly named or blessed peaks should be visible under their own names in the game without having to climb nearest peak.
Sometimes you can get lost; journal should have an option to describe how to get to a particular peak. Especially if you have discovered a path or shortcut leading there.
Ability to skip the intro. First time it is a great introduction but during n-th run it’s boring.
Sometimes the previous mountain ranges overshadow the current ones when “zooming out.”
The visibility of some yellow spots during rhythmic runs is poor, especially during storms. It should be a different shade of yellow or a completely different (stronger) color.
