I have heard the opinions that this DLC is not worth the money since all it introduces is a single character with a set of a few unique abilities and her own special move.
A move that, I might add on the margin, barely even pretends not to be extremely overpowered by keeping the protagonist vulnerable to the damage during its execution. Nonetheless, it gives her the ability to fly while delivering a constant barrage of projectiles over the battlefield so that vulnerability to damage stays vastly contractual. I was able to beat the game (destiny level 2, my max by the time, 5th or 6th run in total) on the first try with barely any effort or planning involved.
Now, back to the original thought. I must say I do not agree with such a judgement. A new character in this game means an entire Visual Novel worth of fully voiced background stories, interactions, banter between the new protagonist and already existing characters and such. And Yamat is definitely an entertaining personality. She is basically a girl counterpart to DMC’s Dante, overgrown ego + extreme charisma build. Take how every other character marvels upon entering the giant turtle/whale chamber while Yamat goes along the extremely casual “Long time no see, hru?” route. And she has a dragon for a hand. She could easily carry a game of her own just on that.
And she is fun to play. A bit slow on the attack, but damage-heavy, nothing a game worth pumping of +5 speed upgrades won’t fix. Definitely can work wonders as a rushdown character like Ayla or Kiran on her primary weapon. By the event horizon she pulverizes that poor boss without breaking a sweat.
Thank your plot armor invulnerability, ya hear?
I’m getting there.
And in the meantime, I’ll need to check out her second weapon I’ve just unlocked by completing the destiny level 2 run. Because yes, she has three weapon sets, three perks each just like any other character.
So yes. And by yes, I mean no. She’s not just a set of skills. I might lack the necessary information after just a single run but from where I stand, Yamat seems a complete, 5 hour plus package if you wish to see everything.
Which probably happens to be the praise for how the characters in this game are built. Zagreus lite, each one of them.
Strong, solid thumbs up.
As always, do with this knowledge what you wish and, as always
Try to have a wonderful life.
