First review came from a place of frustration (34% of level 2 really was the worst experience I've had with a game in the past 10 years, and that's saying something).
Trapped in limbo, just like Annihilation instinct, can be played in about 3 hours straight, but unlike the older DLC, its story adds nothing new to the lore that has been laid out in the base game (unless I missed something, the dialogue was quite vague). The format is cool but the difference from the base game and the first DLC is quite stark, not everybody might like it. Point from first review still stands, no one should pay to feel frustrated.
Oh and yes, the order you play the levels matters A LOT. So much, you might get the ending before you actually finish playing the game, because nothing stops you from playing the last level first (ask me how I know). The way they are laid out in the game suggests a clear order, which is not how it is supposed to be played and WILL get you to the ending before the game actually ends. I've seen videos on youtube of people getting the order right immediately so perhaps I'm just dumb lmao.
First two DLCs really were subpar compared to the base game (which takes a pretty high rank amongst my favorite games), hopefully DLCs 3 and 4 will clear up the lore and tie all loose ends.
