"Mario Odyssey as Told by Countryballs" is really the most accurate way to describe what it's like. It's adorable, that's all there is to it. I don't really know WHY Bob wants to smash anything and everything that's not outright indestructible, but by golly he will.
And is EVERYONE named Bob in this world?
The main suggestion I have for improving this game involves the PLOT! And I have a couple ideas on that.
We know Bob comes into work as an intern, and there's a lot of love and care put into all the details of the world and making every background extra a part of the world. But, as part of the tutorial, there could've been something like a series of tasks, like "I'm Mr. Bigshot Producer, and since this is your first day on the job, your first task is to go fetch me my coffee." Just that would make you feel more like an intern and less like some random guy who wandered on set with unrestricted access to the whole production lot. That tutorial chain of tasks would also be a great way to introduce any other "main characters", and maybe even give an "inciting incident" (like Mr. Big Superstar might actually be a huge jerk and our player Bob intends on taking 'em down a peg, which would explain why the player goes around bashing and bonking anything and anyone).
That's a bit threadbare by itself, but that would definitely give SOME context to everything going on in the game world, as flashy and squishy as it all is. And I love it for that, but I mean it when I say "It's adorable. That's *ALL* there is to it." Just saying, even Mario had a plot: big scary lizard-turtle kidnaps the princess and the player has to rescue and free her.
Here, we just see mega superstar that all the other adorable background extras drool for, and Bob just happens to be nearby, doing Bob things that may or may not involve shenanigans. Most generally don't even acknowledge Bob unless directly confronted. Basically, as far as I can tell, here...there is no plot. There is no context. It's just a flashbang of rapid-fire cuteness.
Just something to think about.
