Awesome game for both children and their dad gamers!
We've got here another bullet hell product and I know exactly what are you thinking: "If you played one of them, you played them all". And you are absolutely right. The game is different to vast majority of known to you similar releases, but if you already had an experience with this genre you can pass on it and move on to something more interesting.
What differs Brotato from the others is how the gameplay is led. Most of his colleagues require action from you only in the first stage of playing, but at some point they change into an idle game since you're so powerful all you have to is go and make yourself a sandwich until the wave is finished. Here you have to be in constant move to stay alive and gather goods.
Brotato has lots of playable characters which majority of them have their buffs and de-buffs. This forces you to different gameplay styles, not focusing solely on getting your favourite set of weapons and carrying on. Developer tried to be unique in this matter, but in fact some of the tatoes don't seem to be challenging at all, even on highest Danger 5. Once you unlock Danger 5 by playing consequently each of them, it becomes available for all your characters.
So the game has six difficulty levels, step by step adding more enemies and more types of them, ending on having three random swarms/elites during a run and double boss at the end. You can see it's a game for kids since "completing the game" doesn't require from you beating it with all characters on danger 5, this can be done on baby-easy danger 0.
Finishing a run with a new character gives you new item/weapon that comes up when rolling between waves or at the start of the run. I like to do my totoes in sequence given, but I know people who play exact tatty just to get a specific starting weapon and make the run easier. From what I've observed, finishing a run with specific weapon adds it onto the start selection screen so you don't have hunt it in game if you want to use it in most of your runs.
The sad thing about the game, most of the time it is all about luck what weapons/items do you roll. I play only Danger 5 to make the game somewhat challenging, but the game is still easy as long as you get the right items. If I can manage half way to wave 10 means I can carry on, but otherwise means my stats and items are too weak to catch up on the run. It happened too many times that I couldn't get decent weapons or items or top up my specific stats because I couldn't roll them. Of course you can increase your Luck, but it's also a matter of luck if you get such an improvement. Well, in the end the game is mainly for children and developers give them this way a feeling like they finally managed to beat the run with their skill, while it was all about what did they roll.
I highly recommend this game for dad gamers, who don't have time for playing, come back late from work and have only like half an hour before go get some rest. It's also good for children who love to experience killing other forms of life and playing fun characters at the same time.
