BZZZT is a great platformer. The closest comparison I can make is Super Meat Boy, although BZZZT isn't nearly as difficult, it's a precision platformer where you're encouraged to beat levels as fast as possible. Additionally, the golden bolt collectibles in BZZZT are similar to meatboy's bandages, as going out of your way to collect them adds some extra challenge, but isn't required. In a way, it functions well as "baby's first precision platformer", but includes objectives and challenges that more experienced players will enjoy, and newer players can ease their way into.
BZZZT is a short game; mileage will vary depending on your platforming skill. It took me about 80 minutes to beat the game, while collecting all the golden bolts. If you're someone who enjoys competing on leader boards, or speedrunning, you can easily get way more time out of the game. There are speed challenges for each level, and "insane" difficulty where you only get 7 lives to beat the entire game. While I certainly believe I could tackle all the speed challenges, insane difficulty seems quite challenging (maybe I'll 100% the game someday once the backlog is cleared).
I really enjoyed BZZZT. I'm not the type of person to complain about a game's length, I'd much rather have a really polished experience and BZZZT is absolutely that. The graphics, music, and gameplay are all high quality - I was really into the game from the moment I picked it up and was encouraged to complete some flawless challenges after beating it. If you enjoy platformers, definitely consider getting BZZZT.
