Note: This review is primarily about the deleted scenes portion of the game, which if you're here its most likely because you heard CS:CZ was a campaign mode entry into the series. That part is Counter Strike: Condition Zero Deleted Scenes which comes with the main game (which is basically just 1.6 with fairly impressive ai for the time), Its the one you would want to play however I wouldn't really recommend it.
On paper it seems dope, but maaaan does it have a lot of stuff holding it back. To start the game is just fragmented missions. No connecting story line at all. You are given an world map and take the role of different spec ops teams from around the globe (even Russia which is interesting to see them portrayed as good guys from a western developer). You never play as the terrorists which sucks since its half of CS' identity.
Since you aren't here for the story, is the gameplay and level design any good at least? Ehhhhh... while the game is built on source, an engine dear to my heart and one renowned for its interesting physics. It has been completely gutted here, patching out fun mechanics like bhopping making the boring level design even more prominent. Did I mention the levels completely blow? Ok that's not all true, some are really interesting! Pretty much every level designed by Russell Meakim has an interesting setting combined with a good selection of weapons. However even these fall victim to some noticeable design flaws. I played all levels at max difficulty, which revealed how poorly placed enemies can be. Sometimes they mimic real CS being tucked in tight corners that you have to clear on entries. This is fine however often they can be placed at the start and ends of ladders and climbing objects. If you've ever played CS you'd know this is fucked up. So whenever I got on a ladder I would get one-tapped (due to high difficulty) with no way to defend myself. My skills aren't being tested here, just my patience.
Anyways some are worth playing some are pretty bad filler, if you're super curious I'd say give it a go. If anything atleast you get the wildest credit scene to send you out.
Oh and also Ig its a product of the time but this game fetishizes asian women quite a bit so.. yeah
