A unicorn of a game. Singleplayer, for Counter-Strike. It's CS 1.6 with all its strengths and flaws at its base, so I won't comment much on that, except to note that there's a reason that Counter-Strike was and is so popular to this day, and its crisp shooting is very much a part of that.
So commenting purely on the single-player missions, they're an enjoyable romp, I enjoyed every single one of them. There were a few pain points for me, which were the RPG guys in a few missions, starting with 'Lost Cause', took a few restarts to learn how to get past them with minimal to no damage, then the latter half of 'Turn of the Crank' mission wasn't as fun for me due to me beginning it with 3 health and no medkit nearby. The "shooting down the fighter jet with the AWP" part in 'Thin Ice' was also something that took a fair few restarts for me. The final bits of Alamo weren't fun either, the "keeping the chopper in the air until support arrives" bit. The final mission of the initially released missions, "Rise Hard", was a significant difficulty bump, IMO, and took more restarts than all of the other missions combined, but it was a fun kind of difficult.
Then 'The Lost Levels'. I felt these were comparatively a lot easier, but fun, nonetheless.
Each level had a certain 'gimmick', I'd say, for lack of a better word, that was innovative, and I liked my time here.
Definitely give this game a try. If you're new to CS from Call of Duty and other shooters and miss the singleplayer campaign, this is for you. If you're not new to CS, then this is a unique and fun little short detour into singleplayer.
