The complete opposite of the Nicholas Cage chapter: one of the most boring, milk toast, and lame Survivor paragraphs.
Perhaps its because I've not engaged with the Alan Wake games, but I just plain don't like this chapter: the cosmetics, the Survivor, and especially the perks.
While it is unfair to compare Nicholas Cage to Alan Wake in cosmetics or voice lines, what sold me on Cage's chapter was ultimately the perks and two of Alan Wake's are very weak and underwhelming, with one of them even being detrimental with little benefit.
Deadline provides no significant benefit since skill checks in themselves don't offer much in the way of progress when it comes to either generator repair or healing, and the increase to the chance of them appearing isn't a tangible game play mechanic the player can utilize in a meaningful way, its just a slight change to the gameplay and has very little impact on Survivor performance unless the perk is entirely built around for an okay to mediocre build. Worse yet, this perk can be much more detrimental if the Killer is using a perk that effects skill checks like the perks Merciless Storm or No Qaurter, even generator kicking perks like Oppression and Overcharge.
Boon: Illumination COULD have been good, emphasis on 'could', because it fundamentally suffers from lack of synergistic utility: the Boon gives aura reading to both generators and chests, but not to items or open chests. That means if one of your fellow Survivors opens a chest, it COMPLETELY negates this perk, even if the item was left in the chest and is ripe to pick up, essentially blinding this Boon to the still full chest's presence on the map. It should show all the auras of opened chests and items, so it can be an effective counter against Franklin's / Weave builds, as well as combine with perks like Appraisal and Residual Manifest.
Champion of Light is alright and is honestly the only decent perk, even if its use is rather niche: it doesn't benefit from Blast Mine since the Killer will likely be in the same place for the majority of the debuff but it works far better on Flashbang / firecrackers, especially when used at a pallet with Chemical Trap but at that point you're just BMing. I don't use flashlights much, they are the tool of the enemy, but I've seen some wackier stuff pulled off thanks to the speed boost. If you use flashlights, I'd highly recommend it.
