$12 to fight zombies with underwear on their head?
The DLC starts off as if hell-bound to make the worst impression it can. It doesn't use the normal travel system, making you wonder how you got to the new location, how to get back, etc. Then when a "normal" travel point unlocks, it's not even in a safe zone. Sometimes, it's the small things.
Throughout the DLC, it feels like there's this bunch of rich, cruel, degenerate a-holes and their dumb followers, and instead of killing them all, we're supposed to help them? It's just a pretty absurd and unfun suggestion, and while knowing the full story may convince some players and slayers, we're not given that when asked for aid, and it just feels like rich people with no problems making problems for everybody else, and making you jump through their idiotic hoops.
In fairness, the DLC gets to be more fun as you go along, but realistically, your character probably wouldn't help out without a lot more info (and you'd expect the quest givers to let you just skip over the entire first area because they need you hella more than you need them); the new weapons are nothing to write home about (and a game should never add new unique weapons without also adding new storage slots for them); and a lot of people seem to be really confused what even happened in the DLC (hint: if after you told your story people aren't sure what the story was, you failed as a story-teller -- personally, I think I've got the story straight, I just think that it's stupid. And this is perhaps the greatest sin of the DLC -- the main game's story was perhaps a bit silly, but at least it was straightforward compared to Dead Island 1, where they kept muddying the waters about the reasons for the zombocalypse, sometimes doing exposition while you were fighting to boot. DI2 avoided this in the main game, only to then do it anyway in Haus.).
I can't even recommend this to people who enjoyed the base game and just want more of the same, since the DLC is so different in tone that it really isn't "more of the same." If you really want more DI2 and can get this on sale, or get it as part of the season pass on sale, knock yourself out, but do curb your expectations.
Worked fine on Linux.
Shorter me: Now that I've finished the base game and the 2 DLCs, I'm casually looking at 100 %ing the maps, and every time this takes me back to Haus, I'm thinking "mehhhhh ..." That's really all you have to know. I love it as much as I'd have loved a sewers DLC.
