I dont normally like to review games until i have put at least 5-10 hours in to it but i wanted to do this one early since i think its not getting enough credit. I was really blown away by how much i have enjoyed this game. In my opinion this is a better party game then Mario party. I have played several Mario party knock offs but this game does it the best. For starters i should say that i have put alot of time into mario party over the years. This game changes some aspects while still keeping the fun bits.
You start by picking characters and a map. This game has as many characters to play as modern Mario party while also having 6 maps which is more then the last few Mario party games. On top of having so many maps the game also has a night time that introduces bosses. Each map has unique bosses that each feel different even through they use the same style of minigame. The biggest change though is that you are trying to get rank points to win. Whoever has the most at the end of the game wins. Its just this games version of stars, however this system allows for more ways to get those rank points so the games feel much closer and enjoyable. In Mario party there have been several games where one person has gotten good roles and played well enough that they get a huge lead that snowballs into a win no matter how hard you try to stop it. This game though feel much more balanced. You still have the minigames after each round that get you money but that does not effect your rank points. Rank points can be gained by getting to the destination space first but you can also get them from the team boss fights. You will also get some from different spaces, like the training space, as well which helps you feel like you still have a chance even when you are behind. This change to the scoring system makes for a lot of fun comeback moments.
On top of the change to the scoring there is a large selection of mini-games and maps. I have currently played 3 of the 6 maps and they have all been fun with different mechanics. If you are familiar with the show then all the maps will be familiar with the interesting mechanics baked in. For example, there is a map from the mugen train arch which has you board the train to get to different parts of the map. The Mini-games have also been very different. After 3 matches at 15 rounds each, i think i might have seen 1 repeat game. I have unlocked several in the training mode that i have not played yet so i know there are more.
With all that said i would say that this game is very much worth it. If you like mario party then you will like this game. If you like demon slayer then you will probably like this game. If you like both then i feel like this game is a must. Obviouly this is a game to play with friends though and should only be bought if you have people to play with since im not sure that this game has a huge player base for quick play. All in all i walked away from this game with a new favorite party game. If you are worried about the price i would say to compare it to mario party. if you are willing to spend 60 on mario party and be satisfied then you will be happy with this game as well. it has just as much content for sure and is just as fun to me. Wait for a sale if you must but dont pass this up for sure.
TLDR: This game has just as many if not more maps, characters, and mini-games then mario party with a scoring system that makes it much easier to get points which leads to closer games with good comeback moments. If you like party games like mario party then i think this game is for you. Even without demon slayer knowledge this game is still a blast and well worth the buy.
