The game doesnt fuck around.
First campaign map is a tutorial.
Second map is a low-resource-attacked-from-both-sides-stress-inducer.
It basically has a timer, a visual one, when you run out of starter units... times up!, you also cant merge unit groups, so you have 5 groups with 2-3 units each, so they all look like they have low health, the healing hut doesnt replenish units neither does houses, and it also costs large amount of resources to replenish the groups of which you already are low on... sigh. so many nitpicks....
It sort of just barely tickles that urge, but it never truly makes you want more.
Im gonna try play some more to see if it gets better, but at the moment im struggling to find what i want from this game.
UPDATE
More hours played, but im still gonna leave it unrecommended.
Once you get passed the obstacle that is introduced on the second mission, the game kinda opens up and becomes sort of like "Black & White 2"-lite, so it actually feels kinda chill and cozy.
But then you play more missions and you kinda get the feeling that the story is kinda tacked on, which makes you not care at all about it, and some of the story missions are just downright boring to play, multiple missions remove you from the cozyness of managing/building a town and takes you on a "unit-only" path where you have to take this hero unit around and all over a few missions and basically do nothing but avoid things, it's not enjoyable at all in fact i would say its terrible from a gameplay perspective, other games have done similar things before like WarCraft III etc. but those games have done it well, i could even argue and say that the missions in those games are even better than the RTS part, cause it feels more cozy to move around a maze-like corridor than building a base.
Still will play more because once again it barely tickles that feeling.
UPDATE 2
Playthrough dropped.
Enjoyment score for this one is 39%
Sometimes it spikes, especially when building your village and get upgrades, but it kinda feels like grabing a handful of sand and most of the sand falls inbetween your fingers.
