The game runs well on many systems. It does have a crash problem and you're required to turn off decals. That will permanently fix the sudden crashes and allow you to play smoothly.

Some have claimed there's an issue to 100% complete the game and require a mod. I've not tested. The Steam achievements for 100% was good enough for me.

🌌 Content & Replay Value
To complete this game you're required a good 100+ hours to explore, destroy and 100% 75% of the map. It's a tedious task, but can be done. There's no replay value and you're only required to play this game on higher difficulty, but you'd best try this game on lower difficulty first as it can be rather difficult.


💵 Is it worth buying?
Yes. It's a good game to dive in and explore the series. I have played the first one, but in the 2nd one you can really tell there's a lot more to be explored.



🎮 Steam Deck Compatibility
Works well. It's a bit difficult to get used to the controls, but if you're used to controller, then you'll have no issues whatsoever.

I liked the game for what it was. I hated the completion part, therefore, this is my final verdict for what the game offers. It's repetitive, mundane and tedious to complete, so I don't recommend it unless you're willing to go through the struggle. Aside from that, it's a pretty good game. Offers what some open-world games have failed.

⚔️ Gameplay & Exploration:

Just Cause 2 is an open-world action-adventure game where you play as Rico Rodriguez, a special American agent tasked to hold control over the Panau islands by liberating them islands. You do this in the good old American fashion, blowing up everything that stands in your way, creating chaos, and controlling each point on the map.

The gameplay is divided into a few things. taking control over villages, bases, airports, and other areas of interest, doing side-missions for your 3 allies that each try to take control of the map, killing important enemy leaders and playing with different vehicles, collecting items, and exploring the vast and complex islands.

The islands are gorgeous, despite the fact that this game came a decade ago. It still holds up very well the visuals and the physics are fairly good too, making it feel like a rather good game to play.

😄 Fun:

It really depends on what side of the barrel are you looking at from. If you're here to beat the story, it's a better and fun experience to have. If you're here to complete, then you better look elsewhere, because this game doesn't value your time, enjoyment, or patience.

🏞 Visuals & Presentation:

Great looking game for its age. I normally look for mods for games that are fairly old to feel a bit better while playing, but to be honest, I didn't feel I needed this game. I think you'll find a lot of stunning views, impressive achievements made by the developers, and a lot of love put in the world.

The cinematics are trying to portray a James Bond feel to it, and it nails it in some parts.

🔊 Sound & Voice-Acting:

The music is the weakest part of this game. It's non-existent in vehicles and very repetitive in the world. Something I wish the game did better.

Dialogues and voice-acting is not that impressive either, even for the main characters. It felt a bit forced and lifeless.

📖 Story & Writing:

The story revolves around Rico discovering the secrets behind Panau Islands, as he and his team try to take a special role in liberating, infiltrating and taking down the leaders of Panau one by one. New and old characters are introduced in the story, with some interesting events.

I did like the James Bond feel of the story, but it was rather dull from transitioning from Cinematics to the game and such. It was hard to find the characters believable in some parts.

🧵 Length & Difficulty:

It's a humongous game to explore. One of the largest maps I've ever played. I didn't think anything could beat Ubisoft, but it seems to me it did. It's a large and lengthy game. Although you can beat it a lot sooner, you're required to gather chaos, by destroying as much as possible in order to progress.

It's not a difficult game to complete, but it's very mundane and tedious, making it more of a drag than anything else.

⭕️Verdict:
Just Cause 2 is a great improvement overall over the first game, with stunning visuals, impressive physics, fun mechanics, and a gorgeous world to explore. Although it's not perfect, it's a fun game to blow steam, play at your own pace, and dive into the world that has much to show and tell you.
