This is a masterpiece in showcasing everything that anyone has ever gotten wrong about Souls games. I made it through all of five hours before conceding defeat, the final three powered purely by my own spite and annoyance that I'd missed the refund window. The worldbuilding was nice and it's a lot easier to look at than many other games of its age but these are about the only aspects of it I can praise. It's clear an attempt was made and there were moments, even in my brief playtime, that I did catch myself having fun, and for this I can only applaud the devs. But these moments were few and far between, and not at all improved by mechanics that should have been familiar from my time with Dark Souls, but were implemented very differently... the most glaring instance, for example, a dodgeroll mechanic with no i-frames. If the little guy on the screen can roll clear of the sword, it doesn't hit him. It could have worked, I'm convinced, were it not for the insane levels of tracking in every enemy's attack. No big strong sword thrust should also spin an enemy a in perfect 180 to land the attack square in your chest.
