I greatly enjoyed my time with the original Maneater, so I thought I'd buy this one too, sadly, it did not impress or amuse as much as the main game.
The main factor for this is that it feels barely play-tested: The Great Whites zoom around the map, soldiers constantly walk on the spot, icons disappear when you zoom out on the map, quest markers don't even show up on your compass and the subtitles for the first few sentences of the DLC already got errors in them.
The few changes this DLC brings to the main game don't well-implemented either. There are now races in which you have to swim through rings in a certain amount of time, but these are the most prone to stutter sections in the entire game, which is especially annoying because you don't want to get stuck or suddenly swim in the wrong direction while having to beat the race in a certain time.
The stuttering was still there, even after I set everything to require as little CPU as possible, which I never even had to think about doing in the entire rest of the game.
The sections where you have to grab explosives with your mouth to deflect at a target are only saved by your ability to cheat through them with projectile attacks on your own, because it is simply no fun waiting for the absolutely buggy NPC AI to throw you an explosive while you constantly get shot at, just to repeat the same process over and over.
A positive aspect of this DLC is the new map though, at least visually. The base looks amazingly sinister, and so do locations like the submarine port. Not that visually appealing are the new mutations and the final boss, they feel prett uninspired and like something straight out of Hungry Shark Evolution, I was expecting some fun variety with the mutations, considering that the main game managed to captivate that certain B-movie feeling so well, but they missed the mark this time.
They also missed the mark on the jokes, the narrators new lines have no real humorto them most of the time. Occasionally, he starts making advertising for the usual podcast products, which is funny, but every other line just feels like he says random terms and words and they expect you to find it funny, when there is so much more you could poke fun of with these certain kind of podcasters and internet personalities: Their need to change their politics and religion constantly to whatever is the most contrarian the moment, the way they seldom have any idea what they are actually talking about, their inability to do proper research etc.. Furthermore, he talks a lot more than necessary, this is especially reflected in races when he comments about every new region you go through while swimming or when he is telling you that you are running out of time for some reason when you clearly have time to spare.
While the original game was fun and knew what it was, this game is a lot more tedious in its nature. This, along with its thankfully short playtime and its own unsureness of what its supposed to parody, does not make this worth the 15$ you can buy it for normally in my opinion. Even on sale, you really don't get much out of playing it sadly, and you might aswell just keep on playing the main game instead.
