Ive just beaten both normal Hell and Leviathan mode and also got 100% of the achievements you can get from the game.
I geneuantly think this game is godtier, but it has some small aspects that people REALLY should be aware of before purchasing, as it might taint their experience.
First, the positive stuff:
- The gameplay is very good, mechanics are solid, satisfying and well implimented
- The pretty decent selection of weapons is really nice as none of them feel outclassed by any of the others since they all serve very specific combat styles. The crossbow might be a bit broken imo, but i dont think it needs any nerfs since its the type of broken that is super fun + YOU CAN ROCKET JUMP LIKE IN TF2 :D
- The music is REALLY GOOD. I am not a big metal fan myself and i can tell you that i was jamming to most of the tracks in here!
- This game does have DLCs but they arent by any means necessary to get the full experience. Just a good way to get more songs, weapons and skins (i reccomend the bow DLC, the bow is amazing)
- The game is SO replayable. A point Ill get into in the nitpick/problem section is the amount of content, but I should make it clear that the levels are really fun to revisit from time to time. I geneuantly boot up the game sometimes to just blow off some steam after a long day
However, here are some of my nitpicks/problems the game has at the time of posting:
since theres a lot of text here ill highlight the important stuff to read, but i suggest reading the explinations beneath it too
- You might see this a lot in other reviews but the game is rather short. Because of that, some people dont see the game being worth its current price. I think its okay since you can see how much thought went into every part of the game, and the Leviathan mode they implimented helps to give you more to do.
I might personally suggest waiting for a sale since the price feels a bit more fair that way. Still, if you buy it at full price, Im pretty sure you wont be dissapointed. Maybe just try not to speedrun anything and really try to take it at a pace you feel comfortable with
- The game has some pretty significant glitches and bugs. Not that many to be clear, but they can be annoying when you try to play
The ones I encountered so far are:
the game crashing when you boot it up (fix for that personally was restarting steam, in case this helps
anyone)
tutorial level basically being a coinflip between if the cave area will even load or if youll be standing and
walking into invisible walls/terrain
a friend of mine also got a pretty devistating glitch where he just cannot start the game as it keeps crashing.
So far no online tutorial or forum helped so its pretty devistating. Praying every day it doesnt happen to me,
and I really hope it doesnt happen to you either
Personal note:
I think this game is geneuantly one of the better games ive played, be it FPS, rythm game or otherwise. There def are some stuff that could use polish since the glitches can be pretty devistating at times, but if you manage to overlook that and its relatively small amount of content, I think its a must-buy for anyone who likes to listen to awesome songs while playing games to try and feel cool lol
Also, hope this review was somewhat readable, i am not a native speaker and Im incredibly sleep deprived rn so I hope anything here made sense lmao
Every day I pray to the All that Hellsinger 2 comes out
