Absolutely loved this game in VR! I just completed the campaign and all the challenge levels and ive never had this much fun with a VR shooter before! I was a major fan of the flatscreen version of the game and I feel the same way about this. I had tons of fun going through the game in VR and being able to use the different weapons in a VR environment was such a magical thing for me. A lot of mechanics just work well in VR like quick weapon reload having you flick your weapon a certain way and all the movement options from the flatscreen version (air dashing combos and whatnot) all just work! While I defiantly recommend this game to any fan of the flatscreen version, there are a few things i personally have gripes about.
First off, swapping between the four weapons seems kinda clunky? You have to hold the tumbstick down to bring up the weapon menu then you have to grab which weapon you want. Now It might just be me but it feels like it breaks the flow of combat to open the wheel and grab a weapon like that. Usually I select the two main weapons at the start of the level and just press the stick down quickly to swap between the two, I never open up the wheel to pull out the skull or sword just because it feels clunky to use. Im sure thats just me though.
Another thing is the sword, for the life of me I cant use the sword as well or efficiently as the flat screen version. I feel as if I can never hit on beat because the window for swinging and hitting an enimie is so small is messes up any sense of rhythm I have. I Also feel like I need to be way to close to enemies to use it and that would cause me to get hit with their melee attacks if I do. Which is a shame because in the flatscreen version the sword is one of my favorite weapons to use against the standard smaller enemies. But it might just take awhile to get used to.
One final small thing, The Hellcrows are a tad hard to aim sometimes, I tried breaking a healing crystal with them and facing right in front of it the Crows just decided to either hit the wall next to it or just hit the ground.
While these are minor gripes I have, I still think this game is a solid 10/10, perfectly encapsulates the flatscreen version in VR and i definitely recommend it
