The second end to a legacy.
PROS: Mortal Kombat 11 is the next title following up after Mortal Kombat XL. The combat is still quick & frenetic, though if feels a heavier. The style & color the game has is a far step up from the previous title. The visuals on combos are also more of a spectacle as well. The story is set to end this version of Mortal Kombat, with the aftermath DLC playing through the villains. The roster is a fairly large size, with different techniques customizable with each. The plethora of costumes & colors also gives an option of flair to those who want it. The Krypt is now a massive third person experience, hiding chests & rewards around Shang Tsung's island. The towers of time has taken a page from Injustice 2, following their multiverse's example to provide a series of alternating ladders, but does it far better by offering skins as a reward alongside the collectables & swappable traits such as taunts & brutalities. The voice acting is also a step above the previous titles, with some familiar talent coming back to the franchise for this one. Finally, they also bring back AI fighters, allowing those who have trouble completing missions a simpler way to do so with reduced experience as the cost.
CONS: As stated above, the game does feel heavier, which is a definite turn off for some players. The sheer amount of gear & cosmetics can be daunting, & the process of unlocking some will turn some people away. Certain unnecessary features have been added back into the game, with mercies being the most notable. Though the roster is large, only 3 new characters arrive, save for the DLC characters. A few voice actors stand out as being poorer than some of the others. Finally, there are 3 separate currencies earned to unlock items in the Krypt, something that does become fairly annoying. A lot of the other smaller issues come down to taste more than actual problems with the game.
ACHIEVEMENTS: This is the easiest Mortal Kombat list out of this timeline's trilogy. Most are easily popped through playing the characters & using their fatalities & brutalities, with a few grind ones that can be cleared with the AI fighter option if wanted. Amusingly enough, Teamwork can be one of the more difficult ones thanks to needing to find 2 other people working on the group battle towers. Besides that, Total Disrespect requires a rather pointless move & Get Over Here requires one to eventually find 50 hanging bodies in the Krypt, something reliant on RNG, but not particularly time consuming while exploring it. Skull Kabob tasks the player with preforming 25 fatalities on a single character in challenge towers, but one only needs to do it to a single non-DLC character. If none of these seem that difficult, it's because they aren't.
FINAL: Mortal Kombat 11 will be a little contentious to some thanks to the heavier combat, but the improves visuals, color, & tower options will make that up for others. As the end to this trilogy, it serves it's purpose, & can be a lot of fun. Even though a few aspects hold it back, I'd like to believe it's still worth while for fans of the franchise, securing a positive vote overall.
