I really don't want to bash this game into the ground, because it's not that bad of a game, quite fun actually... But man this is not worth purchasing in the state it is in. As depressing as this next set of words is going to be: you're better off buying the Switch version instead.
This game is great at its core, some very unique characters, unique mechanics through Moe Kills and Blast Off, a surprisingly in depth item system alongside post game bosses that are worth investing that much time in, and a nicely paced story albeit with its small flaws, mainly fanservice related... But I don't mind it as much anyway, since the rest is pretty fun.
I don't care at all about the censorship parts, and as a matter of fact, I'm much better off without those knowing what they are. What I'm very upset about is how poorly this game runs or rather, how much of a lottery it is to get it to run for more than an hour or two without any crashes whatsoever.
ANYTHING you do in this game has a risk of actually crashing:
- Going into a menu.
- Going into a fight.
- Triggering a Damage Carnival (which is done by reaching a certain threshold of damage in a battle).
- Using an item.
- Reviving a character.
- Random RNG Event giving you over 2 billion of one item, crashing the game in the process.
- Going into a new area.
- Creating a new Peon (strong custom characters you can create in game)
- Reading a Synopsis
- Looking at Profiles
- Setting new clothes for your characters
- Swapping characters
... and that's only a short list of what I had experienced as crashes in the game in my quest to actually do the Post Game content, which is about 57 hours of play.
Not only that, but since the game has absolutely no auto-save to pick back up right where it crashed, you can sometimes lose hours of work in the Mugen Field (a 100 Floor battle trial) just because a random event decided to crash the game!
And considering the amount of time you have to spend to be able to deal with most of the post game content, (I'm expecting the postgame to last me for about 150+ hours...) I cannot sanely recommend this game on Steam to anybody interested. Save yourself the money and trouble, or go get the Switch version instead... (Which is ABSOLUTELY INSANE to think about, a Switch game actually more stable than a PC version...)
Which is a shame, because this game should be worth a play otherwise. But man, this game REALLY needs a fix to be really enjoyable to play. Otherwise, you'll just be repeating the same tasks again and again just because this version wasn't debugged properly.
