To be honest, this game has so much potential as a concept and was fun for, like, not even a month. After that, it lost its charm and became downright infuriating.
First of all, the scroll gachas are a garbage and rigged system. I can get the same male outfit five times, even though I play a female who cannot even wear them. It's a blatant microtransaction scheme that needs to die in gaming as a whole.
This game does next-to-nothing to keep the gameplay fresh and exciting. Weekly missions, new cosmetics, and PVP can only do so much to keep the game alive, and it feels like the developers rely on those, which is simply not working, which hurts the game even more when the community is dying as a result because it's an online only game that greatly encourages teamwork.
Speaking of its focus on PVP and teamwork, the game is too focused on the PVP experience, which keeps co-op players who would prefer to run co-op missions feeling snubbed because after the handful of missions the game gives you, there's little to no reason to run missions anymore other than to level up your VR masters. A greater variety of VR missions would do the game a world of good, and the fact that so many missions are reiterations of other missions, it feels lazy and makes it even moreso that the VR missions are just something to get out of the way rather than a showcase of the game. Hell, a story campaign would be ideal, but I'm well aware that that's just a pipe dream and will only be in a sequel (if this game ever warrants one).
The targeting system needs refinement or some sort of nuance because it drives me up the wall to have my character target a trash mob two miles away when there's a named enemy in your face and punching your lights in. Alternatively, in a beast fight, it's cycling through the inconsequential trash mobs when you're trying to defeat Kurama or Perfect Susano'o within a very limited time frame.
Again, this game is wonderful on paper. I mean, it's the only Naruto game out there where you can play as your own original character (to my knowledge) which was a huge draw for me. It's such a shame that there's not much else that keeps me invested in this game.
If you're a competitive player and PVP is your jam, enjoy it while there's still a community to play against.
If you're like me and prefer a more cooperative experience, you won't find what you're looking for here.
