I bought this game in early access and had high hopes for it, as it did have a lot of potential. I was extremely excited, after years, to hear that the game would finally be out for a full release. It had even looked abandoned at one point, but I held onto my faith that something good was coming (sure was wrong). I thought that was great news that it was being released, as I had assumed a completed game or mostly completed game would be released. Eagerly, as soon as I got home, I updated the game and began to play.
At first, it was okay. Not nearly as great as I was hoping for. The map is just terrible, you can't find anything. The only way to get a layout is to wander around aimlessly and hope to find all of the NPCs, which you must meet as a quest. It took me a few in-game days just to find them all, the map was truly not even a little helpful.
As I progressed, I only found myself more disappointed. The controls are so clunky and the hit boxes so specific that I find the only way to do a lot of activities is to approach what I want to interact with from the side (mostly with the farming controls) and hope that I've lined up right or the action will have no effect whatsoever. At first I just let it go, figuring while it was annoying, I could work with it. Also, forageables respawn as soon as you re-enter an area which takes all difficulty out of the game, as you can easily just keep shipping them to stockpile money quickly.
Soon, I was ready to buy livestock. I went to go buy a chick and a rooster. Upon buying the chick, somehow I ended up also purchasing a sheep. It didn't stop there though, it glitched out during naming since it somehow did this, and now both my chick and my sheep share the same name. Finally. my chick grew up after I had accidentally left it outside overnight (it was time, this part wasn't weird; I just encountered this bug later since I had left the chickens out). I put it away before sending my character to bed, and in the morning, when I tried to enter the coop, the game crashed instantly. I cannot enter it, it crashes to desktop every single time.
It gets worse though! If you look at the bug reports in the discussions forums, a lot of bugs that players are currently experiencing are months old. That's baffling that it's been released before these bugs were addressed. I cannot imagine why a dev would want to release a game without addressing such problems; a lot of bugs reported are capable of preventing you from continuing your current file.
Finally, I am not happy that in early access, marriage and romance were promised. Yet if you look at the discussions forum, the dev has said that they released this game with no romance or marriage. They haven't discussed for sure that it will be added (only that it might be), but quite frankly, I never would have funded this game if I had known that the devs would consider going back on promises. That's just a bad thing to do to your customers and is quite shameful honestly. Should the devs follow through on their promises, and work actively to fix bugs and improve the game, then I will happily rewrite my review in a more positive light. As of right now though, I cannot and will not recommend this game. I am very upset that promises made had no follow through and may not still be followed through with. In fact, I would feel quite scammed if these are not added as that was the main reason for purchasing.
