Imo already better than Home Invasion DLC. It actually makes use of a feature that isn't in the base game, the use of aerial surveillance. While I found the helicopter surveillance to be kinda miss at times especially in the last mission of the DLC, I found it to be decent in the 2nd and 1st mission. At least in this DLC they tried to give us a reason to play these missions instead of Home Invasion which offers not much to the overall game. I like the use of aerial surveillance so hopefully they can implement it into base game for the bigger levels especially in Hide and Seek (we all know that level is still a pain in the ass).
The actual features:
- This DLC includes free weapons as part of the update
- Optimizations to the game
- A new TOC voice, which imo is infinitely better than the last one
- 3 new maps
- 4 new weapon attachments
- A new mini-storyline like previous DLC
I will just give a quick summary to all three missions. The 1st mission, is called Mirage at Sea and the best way to describe this one would be that it is indeed a Dubai Porta Potty situation in a yacht. However despite being smaller compared to the rest of the other missions in this DLC, I did not like it. Yes, the use of aerial surveillance is the best in this mission imo, it is also my least favorite.
2nd mission is Leviathan, basically a bunch eco-terrorists that somehow took over an oil rig and actively promoting themselves on a social media livestream. This turned out to be my most favorite mission of them all because I felt that enemies are spread out pretty fairly while also not being damn aimbots. This map is also badass and genuinely fun, so props to VOID on this map. Although I would like to say this map, will slow down your computer so make sure to tune your graphical settings to be more optimized.
Last, but not least, the most mysterious map, 3 Letter Triad. This mission basically taking down a deal, what kind of deal? Well you better play it first, this one is more on the lore side of the game, maybe potentially hinting at the third DLC in the future? Either way, this mission will be hard for newbies because its basically a lot of armed suspects and sometimes they crowd in one place. This mission is my 2nd favorite in the DLC, but I don't like how confusing the map layout is, feels like I've been going around circles for the last guy (which I did).
Anyways, the question is, is Dark Waters better than Home Invasion? Hell yes. To me, this is a significant improvement over Home Invasion. If Home Invasion DLC was like a 6.5/10, this DLC is a 8/10, massive improvement overall compared to the last. I recommend it.
