The game brilliantly combines two distinct playstyles through its main characters. As Sphinx, you'll engage in satisfying combat and platforming challenges, while the Mummy's sections offer clever puzzle-solving sequences that will test your wit. The contrast between these gameplay styles keeps the experience fresh and engaging throughout.
The Egyptian mythology-inspired setting is gorgeously realized, with detailed environments and creative interpretations of ancient legends. The story is well-crafted, mixing humor with adventure in a way that appeals to both younger players and adults alike.
What really stands out is the game's excellent level design and progression system. Each new area introduces interesting mechanics and items that expand your capabilities, making exploration consistently rewarding. The puzzles are particularly well-designed, challenging enough to be satisfying without becoming frustrating.
While some aspects of the game show their age, the core gameplay loop remains incredibly fun and addictive. If you're a fan of classic 3D platformers like Jak and Daxter or Sly Cooper, or simply love Egyptian mythology, this game is absolutely worth your time. It's a charming adventure that deserves more recognition in the gaming community.

This game is great. During its original release, it boasted a unique setting, excellent character design, generally solid controls, and a refreshing game play loop thanks to it swapping between Sphinx's typical 3D adventure sections and the Mummy's puzzle sections. Decades later it is still a solid entry worth playing for fans of the genre or of Egyptian settings.

When playing as a child, I remember the puzzles being challenging and was sometimes frustrated. But I invested several hours in running around the first part of the game and trying to fill the museum. As an adult, I found the puzzles to be mostly easy and intuitive and the combat outside of bosses to be underwhelming. I still enjoyed the Mummy sections a lot, and it was nice to finally beat it.

As for negatives, some of the minigames can be frustrating, and if you're a completionist there are several missable items to look out for. Rarely I found the control were not as responsive as I'd wanted. Also, the pacing for the second half of the game is jarringly rushed compared to the first half, but by then I was mostly ready to wrap it up anyway.

In conclusion, if it looks interesting to you, give it a try. Here's hoping they revive the IP someday.
