After completing STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order, I don't think this game knows what kind of game it actually wants to be. It has way to many different genres packed into one big bubble. That's why the whole experience is just a big mixed bag of small and big things, that are equally right and wrong at the same time.
Starting part and the very last section is very cool and the most fun this game has to offer. A lot of cinematic sections, cool action scenes. But what you get in the middle of it is just a whole different game.
I would describe this game as: Metroidvania Tomb Raider puzzle platformer in Star Wars universe with a sprinkle of souls-like'ish action here and there.
Action is very sporadic (and you mostly fight various bugs and animals, at least in 2/3rds of the game. Only at the very end you can actually feel that you are playing as a Jedi in a Star Wars game. Which is actually badass when it happens.
The graphics, animations - are just great. The environments are very beautiful and well detailed, has great lighting effects. Overall, a beautiful game to play. Sound effects and music could have been better at times. Sometimes it felt out of place. Combat is also a little bit clunky. Specifically while fighting bigger enemies or very quick ones. Anyway, visually it still looks very cool, just annoying sometimes.
Sadly, this game stutters no matter how high your fps is. But you can get used to it (well, you have no option but to accept that it will happen). I played with mouse and keyboard and overall I think the controls were good. But constantly locking camera movement in certain locations, when you can't even look around at all... That's a real pain in the spongecheeks in those situations.
There are like 5 explorable planets. Exploration is quite limited overall. Many invisible walls, can't jump over various obstacles. Muddy/washed out looking characters, faces lack contrast and crispness. Looks good in screenshots though.
So many puzzles and platforming sections or both at the same time. That's what you'll do the whole playthrough. It's tedious and slows your progress to the bare minimum. Boring Metroidvania-like core skill unlocking is also a very limiting factor. For example - you get double jump after completing 75% of the game.... Why? Why make all the useful and fun things unlock so late? That's why most Metroidvania games suck imo. You unlock too many things way too late.
You can collect a lot of cosmetics during a playthrough. But in the end ALL of them are just basic recolors of your clothes or items. Only the lightsaber has a bit more customization, but you can't see any details of it during fights or normal gameplay since it's not a game that is played in first person perspective anyway.
Every time you have to go back to you ship, you have to run back the whole level (Every. Single. Time), while fighting the same enemies that always spawn in fixed locations. Every time you choose to go to a different planet, you are always prompted to sit in a chair to complete the sequence. Whyyyyy? Every time you return to the explored planet, the objectives are always at the very end of that level. If you cut out all the puzzles and these long walks/climbs/jumps to the objectives - this game would probably be like 4-5h long max (including all cinematics).
As for the story. It's formulaic. It ended like a first season of TV series. Only a few characters were interesting (and one of them is a robot that behaves like a 180IQ dog, haha...). I don't think the writing was good. There were a lot of words without meaning. And I dislike empty words in games. It creates that cheap feeling... like... like when watching a youtube short with a person constantly pointing out and nodding at a different video on his side. Anyway.
It's a very playable (yet mediocre) game. It has too few really engaging and fun moments. But I can't recommend it. You can play it, of course. I don't judge. But if I had known what I know now about this game - I would not have played it. Or bought it. So. yeah. Cheers.
