A very different, gory and fun DLC, in first-person!
You are The Keeper. Gore is a fact.
Story
The Executioner takes place after The Evil Within base game. Having collected data from the case of Leslie Withers, the MOBIUS administration wants to see if they could duplicate Ruvik's escaping methods using a new STEM system they constructed. Having lost control of a new batch of test subjects, one of which is Marta Martin, they offer her father Pedroa a chance to enter STEM space using the avatar of The Keeper to rescue his daughter and stabilize their system from the inside.
Gameplay
The Executioner focuses heavily on action, and really nothing on horror. You play as The Keeper, in first-person now instead of third-person. This DLC is about 1-1.5 hours long, where you battle your way through iconic enemies from the base game while looking for your daughter. No hiding, no sneaking, just pure action and a lot of gore in all the ways you can kill your enemies with your arsenal. You can upgrade your weapons, health, defense, speed, etc.
Enemies & Bosses
Enemies and bosses from the base game.
Environment
The environment is pretty much the same throughout the DLC, which is the Victoriano Estate. This is the same area as you are in Chapter 9 in the base game.
Visual Design & Sound Design
The visuals are very gory as you slaughter your way through the enemies. The sound is gory as well.
The Verdict
Another DLC that is very different from the base game, but a lot of fun! Don't really have anything to complain about, it is what it is. It's short, simple, entertaining and a gorefest!
