I've heard nothing but good things about this map and I was not disappointed. The reserve is what all maps should be like; Well populated with large animal herds, gentle terrain, not overly dense vegetation especially around the watering holes and well situated outposts and blinds. It makes for really chill and comfy hunting treks. Definitely a beginner friendly map.
Also notable is that it lacks any hunting-focused missions. Everything boils down to go here, fetch this or take a picture of that. Personally I like this approach since it gets you to explore the map without forcing you into frustrating conditional contortions like the coyote missions in Layton.
Also notable is that this is light load map; Not having any class 2 or 3 game means you can get by with two guns (a .22 LR or shotgun and a 7mm Magnum) which leaves a lot of room for Turkey Decoys and even a Blind, Stand or Tent.
I'd say if you were to only buy one map DLC it would either be this one or Vurhonga Savannah.
I only have two gripes about this DLC:
The Alexander Longbow. It offers nothing new considering the Houyi is already in Weapon Pack 1 and you are definitely going to buy that for the Virant .22 LR if you're seriously going to embark on Turkey hunting which is what this map is great for.
Second, half the species on this map have no callers. So you will have to either wait for them at the need zones or stalk them. And the former approach is complicated by the presence of Mountain Lions which spook all animals within 300-500 meters of them. KILL THEM ON SIGHT.
