This pack is a perfect illustration of power creep; Where certain game features rise and fall in value due to overarching changes in the meta and the subsequent releases of other features/weapons. While the weapons in it are interesting they are completely outshone everything that has come since its release that the only reason to get it would be completely your collection, play with some unique toys but only on a 60% off sale.
Its no better embodied by this pack's lemon, the Solokhin which once upon a time was thought to be the most powerful rifle in the game due to its ability to score one hit kill spine shots. However within the change of the scoring system which now emphasized humaneness, it has fallen in value to near worthlessness. While heavy as most generalist rifles, its ammunition is underpowered for its rated Classes; Its meant to take stuff from small deer to bears but statistically the .22H, a varmint rifle round, hits harder. Its a rare weapon with actually no redeeming qualities.
With the recent class changes the Mangiafico I feel just got a new lease on life since several classes of animal that used to inhabit Class 3-4 have fallen to Class 2-3, which is a peculiar void in the game's weapon lineup. More or less it allows you to carry a birding gun and a varmint gun in one tiny package , albeit at steep compromises in performance. That said the .410 is no .12 gauge, having a much smaller pattern, that the argument can be made to use a .22LR rifle or pistol instead unless you are hunting pheasants that need to be shot in flight. The .45 Colt bullets are strange in that while their Penetration leaves much to be desired, their expansion is comparable to that of some rifles. Which means that you will have to place your shots carefully but if score on a vital the animal is guaranteed to drop then and there.
Finally we have the Drilling which is pretty much the raison d'tere for getting this DLC; Its a one-gun solution that covers Class 1-9, allowing you to carry every lure, blind and gadget you want alongside it, at the cost of some severe tradeoffs. For Classes 1-4 you will have to rely on the shotgun, so brush up on your stalking since you'd only be effective at roughly 50-75 yards while for 5-9 your rifle is essentially a 7mm but with a class 5 floor capped at 150 yards. Also the gun is currently suffering from a bug where switching between functions causes the ammo count to zero unless said ammo was loaded using the inventory screen and not the ammo wheel (yeah really weord bug), negating one of its selling points which is being able to follow up your rifle shot with two slugs in quick succession. Wait for EW to fix it before even considering this pack.
