The Star: The Anderson .22 LR, its more or less a Varminter for 1 weight and half the range. While it may sound innocuous, remember unlike the former, this is a handgun which gives you a uniquely fast way to ratchet up your handgun score on plentiful and stupidly easily to catch prey like waterfowl, turkeys and rabbits on your grind toward those sweet .454 Hard Cast Bullets for the Sundberg Revolver.
The Gimmick: The Vaquez Cyclone is arguably the most unique weapon in the game, sitting as a compromise between rifles and bows. While it does not have the hunting pressure reduction of bows, the massive reduction in the spook radius means in theory you can wipe out entire herds without your quarry realizing you are even there and more importantly, not spooking every other animal in the forest as you work your way through them. That said this is balanced out by the fact that you have the effective range of a pistol and an insanely heavy bullet drop.
The Lemon: Ironically when it first came out, the Eckers was the best large-game rifle in the game and its still a good rifle on its own merits. However the release of the Malmer and the Iwaniec in subsequent DLC pretty much consigns this weapon to the dust bin. The former addresses the single shot weakness of the Regent while the later is a faster firing semi-automatic .30-06 and both are lighter than the Eckers by at least .5.
Overall this pack is good value but your reasons for buy it will turn on what other packs you already have and what you want. Unless you are after the .22 LR and the Vasquez, the Eckers is made completely redundant by at least three other DLC (Modern Rifle, Hunter Power and Smoking Barrels). But if its on sale, definitely get it. You get three good guns for the price of a cup of coffee.
