Fading embers is story about saving cultural heritage. You play as girl, who is trying to save random stranger that showed in critical condition on her doorstep, then the story expands into finding and protecting artifacts from being destroyed in the war.
This is the best of the three stories, as the player has a lot of agency of what to do and is not forced into certain situations. The story has multiple endings that vary based on what choices the player made, which adds replayability. Those endings are not completely unique, but from my experience there are about 5 (may be more) endings.
Problems:
One of big problems I have is that you Cannot skip cinematics, When you play the scenario for the 3rd time, you know what is going to happen, you dont need to see character walking for 30 seconds. There are a lot of instances that could be potentionally skipped, but for some reason you have to watch all of it, every time you play it. And it gets really tedious.
There is broken achievement for seeing all endings, that sometimes works, sometimes it does not, and as far as i searched, there is no solution for it. I am unable to get it even that i finished the game meaby 7 times. Really sucks if you want to get 100%. since you cannot.
Sometimes there is bug that can happen, at the start of any day, that starts with cinematic, the game can bug itself and the cinematic will never end. You are unable to continue your game and you HAVE TO start completely new game. I highly recommend keeping savefile on a day that starts without cinematic, that if you get this bug, you can just continue from your old save and not have to play the game from the start.
Spoilers:
What i got really dissapointed by is the setting for the story. It sounds great, looking for and protecting valuable artifacts and the game gives new gameplay mechanics for it, but the only artifacts you can find are in the first two locations. After that it is basically just normal game of this war of mine but its cold all the time. For me it is a big waste of potential. There could be many artifacts hidden or stolen in different locations that the player could find, but no.
Another mechanic that was added is destroying artifacts into firewood (because it is cold), but it does not make much sence. The only reason you would not make fuel from them is that you go for achievement, or that you want to make the game harder for yourself. There is no mechanic that rewards you or punishes you for burning artifacts. The important ones cannot be burned and there are only 2 or 3 of them that make characters sad, which you would never burn since there are dozens of others.
