The campaign is fun. Got some challenges for you to do.
Once the campaign is over, you get the "Free Game". And every single "Free Game" is the exact same thing.
Here's how every single game goes:
Open map (or make your own map first)
Check where resources come from, where they get turned into products, and where they go.
Example: "Wheat grows here, gets turned to bread here, and sold there"
Same for oil to fuel, or rocks to whatever...
Make truck or train connections between those places to make and sell the product.
Wait for money to generate...
Keep waiting...
Wait some more...
Once you got money again, either expand the same thing you already got by adding more vehicles, or by shipping the product to more towns.
Repeat all of the above, but for another resource.
Oops, autosave now takes 10 seconds to save and the game is laggy, so lower your graphic settings.
It just gets boring hella fast after the campaign.
Also, about the "Deluxe upgrade". Is it worth it? Absolutely not.
The deluxe upgrade adds vehicles, and maps. Both are things the workshop also has.
And those vehicles aren't even particularly good. Their capacity is lower than that of other vehicles and at least in the campaign can't even haul "special" resources that this specific campaign has. So they're useless anyways.
The maps of the dlc are... whatever. The game has a literal procedural map generator in it. You can literally make the same caliber of maps in like three minutes, effectively turning the DLC maps not special in any way shape or form.
But here is THE one thing that bothers me the most:
EVERY part of the entire chain (Wheat > make bread > sell bread) must be up and running before anything gets made. This means, the farms will only start producing anything, when there's a line to the town that is already up an running. And THAT means, you will have a truck, train, boat or plane do empty rounds from the bakery to the town numerous times while the other vehicles that bring the wheat are still on its way. (You can tell the vehicles to wait for the full thing to load, to avoid the empty running vehicles, but you need to do that for every single stop, and maintenance fees for a parked vehicle still exist)
Oh and there's no warehouses.
I like to directly compare this game to Industry Giant 2.
In IG2, you get to build a farm to make wheat and it just makes wheat until the warehouse is full. In IG2 you can use that wheat for whatever you want, ship it anywhere you want.
In TF2, you need to build the whole damn infrastructure before anything even happens. And all the wheat made is only for that ONE line. If you think "i got so much wheat i'll get another train to another bakery" well that won't work. That new train has no cargo because all the wheat is only for the other line. Resources are not shared like that. Its absolutely absurd.
Oh and if you accidentally delete a vehicle from a line, and it was the only vehicle you had, all the finished wheat, bread or whatever the hell is deleted from the cargo platforms because now the full infrastructure is missing one single link, bricking everything immediately.
All in all, it is an okay game, but once the campaign is done, it gets stale.
You may have some fun making a map, but not playing it cause its just more of the same.
