I think this is my first time reviewing on Steam. I've only ever reviewed mobile apps and they have a stiff character limit. I look forward to being able to speak freely.
I actually like this game! It's been enjoyable to play thus far. At the time of this review, I'm about 43% completion. (The save file will let you know how far you've gone.) You never know what you're going to get from a game, and an adult game can be iffy. Some are just cheesy, or focus (ironically) too much on the adult stuff, without a story or much else. Sometimes they favor the mechanics of the animations and kinda half-ass the rest of the game. You can get better stuff from other forms of adult entertainment in that case.
Let's do some pros and cons.
PROS
Naughty stuff This is an adult game, so of course it has the goods. But how good are the goods? The animations are pretty good, pretty smooth. Sometimes textures are shiny where they don't seem like they would be, but I wouldn't say that's a detractor. The adult situations are pretty imaginative. (Some of them are actually funny.) The female characters are all conventionally attractive, mostly not anatomically ridiculous. Unless you're ace, the scenes will probably get your bits 'abuzzin'. So this part delivers, and no disappointment here.
Story Interestingly, while I definitely enjoy the adult content, the story is one of my favorite parts. It centers around a lost treasure, no spoiler there. However, the growth of the MC and his relationships with the people around him has me hooked. The world-building is thorough enough that the setting and story is believable, you know, in that suspension-of-disbelief kinda way. It feels plausible, as stories go. (I've definitely seen worse stories.) Cape Vedra is small, but it feels like a place I'd like to explore. There's mystery and magic, and, of course, a lost treasure.
Mechanics Overall, the mechanics are pretty good. The game isn't super complex, probably because its focus is on... ahem... other things. But it's got more to it than just the naughty stuff. It is an adventure game, and it's built to accommodate that goal.
Characters This is gonna sound funny, but the female characters in here aren't just T&A with different skins. All of them have something about them I like, if not for personality, then just for their personal stories. A couple of them are very mysterious, and I find myself intrigued about who they are and what they're hiding. One or two of them are so adorable you wanna just eat 'em up (not literally). There's some with whom you share some tender moments, and the interactions, despite most of them being sexual in nature had me by the heart, not just the jimmies. Some of the characters I felt something for, and found myself hoping that everything works out for them. I want some of those relationships to flourish beyond the physical interaction. The characters all have some motivations, some deeper than others, but they feel fleshed out beyond "pleasure of the flesh" flesh. That's pretty good character development, and for an AO game, downright outstanding.
Writing The story and characters are done well enough it keeps me playing. The naughty stuff is fun, but not very deep (no pun intended). I enjoy them, but, again, it's the desire to find out what happens next that keeps me coming back for more. That's a good sign.
Music ST The music is okay. My favorite is probably one from the intimate scenes. When you're in one of these scenes, you're going to hear one of two tracks. One is supposed to sound sexy, and it fits the situation pretty well. The other track is a slow, electric guitar kinda sound, and I love it. On the OST it's labeled as "Calm." The two tracks are used for a specific mood. The sexy track is obvious--you're in a very sexy scenario. But "Calm" seems to be used when this intimate moment is special, between the MC and the NPC. I believe it's meant to stir heart-strings, and it succeeds in doing that to mine.
CONS
Game Progression As I mentioned before, this game isn't designed to be super complex. It's not meant to be, and that's fine. However, the progression is very linear. As in, you will find yourself needing something, knowing you need something, but the game won't give it to you until you do the thing that precedes it on the to-do list. You have a personal assistant built into the game that gives you hints throughout, but, while the world is mostly open-world, the story is not. You progress when it's time, and the prerequisite if-statement has been satisfied. This has been a little frustrating, especially when I know what piece of equipment or crafting ingredient I need, and I know the game isn't going to give it to me until I check something off the list--going down the list. You'll see what I mean if you choose to play.
Crafting This mechanic is strictly tied to game progression, which is frustrating at times. I believe they do it this way so that the player doesn't get ahead of the story, as it's meant to be enjoyed as much as the adult stuff. Still, having a rock bomb handy at times would've been nice. This isn't Minecraft; it's definitely not a sandbox.
Neither PRO nor CON
Male Fantasy Shouldn't be a surprise, but, yes, this game is 100% a male fantasy. This also isn't a complaint, but it felt important to mention. If you are somehow convinced that this game is not going to be that, you will be disappointed. If you're expecting a fun romp, and you're either a straight male or a bi/pan female (or trans, maybe?), you'll probably enjoy your experience. One Pro about this is that, while the ladies are definitely objects of desire, they aren't caricatures. Some of them are bitchy, but not cartoonishly so. Some of them are quite happy to please the male MC, but they have an actual reason in their personality and story, rather than just being mindless slaves to their "male master." The funniest interactions, in my opinion, are with the town doctor, because the situations and her reactions are so implausible and probably the corniest in the game, but there are actually some sweet moments with her. She's not just a man-pleasing bimbo. You may find it difficult to see this, as most of their interactions are hilarious (to me, anyway), but her story and personality are there.
Each of the female characters has her own motivations, ambitions, needs, dreams, fears, etc. It's not Pulitzer material, but for a 100% male fantasy adult game, it's pretty decent writing. I felt something for most of them, and the ones I'm not emotionally drawn to, I'm curious about them for other reasons, like their ambitions, and what brings them to tiny Cape Vedra.
My Take
I didn't go into this game expecting much. I knew the animations would receive a lot of attention, as well as the art for the adult parts of the game. No surprise, no disappointment. The story is intriguing enough to keep me going, often staying up at night later than I should. I have to know what happens next. I'm personally going to feel that unique feeling of loss at the end that I feel when I finish a book--bittersweet. The characters are written well enough that I found myself emotionally attached to some of their stories, even wishing some of them success and happiness--for fictional characters, no less. Also, they don't make the MC a douche, so that's a positive. (Some of the dialogue is kinda weird, though.) Overall, as I said before, I enjoyed this game. If you're looking for a good time (pun intended), and a good story to enjoy while it lasts, try out Treasure of Nadia.
PS: There's twelve female characters in this story--all interesting--but Kaley is my absolute favorite. I felt the most emotional attachment to her.
Thank you for reading my review, if you made this far. :-)
