This game must be played from start to finish
Undertale is an RPG game in which we control a hero who has found himself underground and is trying to return to the surface. In order to do this, he will have to traverse the levels of the underground world, where he will meet many different characters, friendly towards our character, but also those who will want to kill us at all costs. The problem is that our character is a human and only monsters live in the underworld, which does not put us in a very comfortable situation. It will put us in many uncomfortable situations from which we will have to find a convenient way out. Turning on the game for the first time may lead us to be perplexed as to why this game is so well regarded, what is so special about it, after all it is a fairly simply made game similar to those coming out before 2000. But Undertale does everything so well that today it's a cult game and shows that sometimes you don't need photorealistic graphics and beautiful animations, but it's enough to create a game with a great gameplay that we will remember for a long time and not forget about it right after finishing.
Fight or flight?
Starting with the gameplay, as it is in an RPG we have a character level, equipment, and battles with enemies allow us to attack them, use found or bought items or escape from the battlefield. We can kill our opponents is logical, after all it is an RPG, but what if I told you that we can defeat any opponent without fighting? That's what Undertale enables us to do. However, if we choose to have a typical fight with our opponent then we have to be prepared for short, arcade games where we can lose some of our lives or even die. These are unique to all characters, so each, newly encountered opponent will be something new.
Simple but nice
Moving on to the graphics we will see pixels, lots of pixels. But underneath those pixels are really a lot of interesting locations, characters that we will remember for a long time. Everything looks as if it fits together perfectly. At the beginning, the graphics can be disturbing, but after just a few minutes we forget about them, because the plot and the whole world take over here. Of course, we forget, but in the sense that instead of being a nuisance it becomes an element that we get used to and appreciate the longer we play. It becomes an important, integral part of our journey.
Music to my ears
Just like the music. It's not as if the same soundtrack is playing all the time. Here, depending on the location or the enemy, you will hear something different. The music is catchy, even after finishing the game many of the tracks stayed in my memory. If the game has a gloomy atmosphere, the music also refers to this atmosphere. It is logically interconnected and makes sense (or sans hehe) Here it is worth mentioning that the soundtrack was created by one person, i.e. the game's creator.
Summary
One can talk about Undertale for a long time, list its advantages, but it's better to just buy it and play it, and then give your own opinion. It's definitely one of the best games I've played, although it's quite short, but it allows you to complete the game in several different ways. There will probably be quite a few people who won't like the graphics or too simple gameplay, but I think the game is worth the price and worth giving it a chance.
