Many of you have been with us from the very beginning, but for those who joined us along the way, we thought now would be a neat time to take a look back at our journey and show how much "Ember Knights" has evolved over the months and years.

The Ember Knights Timeline

Spring 2019 - Pre-productionInitial concepts and prototyping beginsThe first idea, that was somewhat close to where we ended up, was a more RPG-based game complete with NPC behaviors, day and night cycles, etc.Working title is Pixablo








*A little bit of trivia - the original concept that we pitched to Ontario Creates, for funding assistance, was a kart racing game




August 2019 - Community BuildingThe Official Discord server is created with only 3 (us) members"And it begins!"Where is everyone?? lol
Fall & Winter 2019 - Continued DevelopmentEarly development continuesName changed to EverbrightYou might start to see how we ended up with the iconic flame-headed hero we have today


Spring 2020 - Major Gameplay ChangeA pivotal meeting occurred where we decided that we were on the wrong path. It was this meeting where we learned that no one in the studio was excited about playing the game we were making...clearly a red flag lolTaking a step back and with a critical eye, we analyzed what we had and decided that the only thing about the game that was good was the combat. We decided to focus on making that the foundation of the game, improving and polishing it as much as we could, and scrapping everything elseName changed to Rogue Souls


Summer 2020 - Major Story ChangeWe changed the story from being a ghostly character in the afterlife to a fire-imbued hero destined to save the worldThis is the point where the game really starts to take shape
September 2020 - Publisher SearchWith our Steam page now public, publishers start reaching out to usA small group out of France takes interest and discussion with Asmodee (now Twin Sails) begins
November 2020 - Closed BetaWe begin the search for external testers
December 2020 - The Birth of Ember KnightsWith the change in story, we decided to change the name to Ember KnightsThis proved to be a grueling process of about 2 weeks with over 50 other names not making the cut


February 2021 - Gameplay RevealedThe first gameplay trailer is releasedFootage is barely recognizable now as we've come along way with improvements and polish
April 2021 - Combat DemoLooking for feedback on the combat, we release the Combat DemoReception is quite positive and a ton of great feedback is collected
Spring 2021 - Relic System ReworkThe system is changed from a stat-centric system to an effect & combo system
June 2021 - Asmodee Publisher AnnouncementAfter months of discussion with Asmodee (now Twin Sails), we finalize our partnershipPress release available here
Fall 2021 - Major Map ChangeWe decided to change the map progression from Zelda-inspired exploration to a more streamlined and linear progressionTiny Titan Studios is sold and we continue development under the name, Doom Turtle
April 2022 - Early AccessWe enter into Early Access
June 2022 - Rise of PraxisThe first update to include a new weapon, the Rift Hammer
August 2022 - Nexus NewsOur first dev log is published giving an inside look at development and highlighting some members of our communityPublished here
October 2022 - AnvilleThe first update to include a new world, Anville
January 2023 - Overwhelmingly PositiveWe reached the incredible milestone of 95% on Steam
Spring 2023 - Nintendo SwitchWe decide to also release 1.0 on the Nintendo Switch and begin porting
July 2023 - 1.0 ReleaseWe release 1.0 on Steam and the Nintendo Switch
April 2024 - PAX EastWe attend our first event where we can interact with our players
September 2024 - Ember Cat ChallengeThe first update to include a global community challenge event
October 2024 - Wrath of the Architect DLCWe release our first DLC, Wrath of the Architect
December 2024 - Playstation and XboxWe announce that we'll be bringing Ember Knights to Playstation and Xbox
Spring 2025???
Spring/Summer 2025 - Playstation and XboxWe're targeting the release of Ember Knights on Playstation and Xbox
Fall 2025???
