Alaloth: Champions of the Four Kingdoms Review (Murb)

This game has a ton of weird design choices for the sake of trying to be “different.” I don’t agree with the combat is hard complaints cause it’s fairly easy and I breezed through level 3-5 dungeons pretty easily and the bandits hideout that everyone gets stumped on. You can just kite enemies and kill them off one by one. Mnk controls are atrocious.
You complete a fighting arena (fancier word for dungeon) but none of the loot you find is actually accessible until after you complete the dungeon? What? Equipment degrades at a ridiculous rate. Almost every dungeon feels and looks the same.
Most of the quests I’ve done so far is just fetch this, meet this person, go here and investigate, blah blah blah. Just a bunch of generic shit that doesn’t advance the lore at all. You get sent to the same place 3 separate times by 3 separate people on kill/fetch quests with bits of lore that are just so inconsequential and add nothing to the story and the dev justifies that by saying you shouldn’t be rushing through everything because you’re not learning or “soaking” it in. Weird sentiment. They’re extremely standoffish with any sort of criticism and regularly mute and lock threads when they’re displeased with what posts have to say sometimes. Despite all that, I saw the game was going on sale at a steep discount for the last time so I figured why not? Haven’t enjoyed my time at all though.
It’s fine and dandy having thousands of words written but does that matter in the grand scheme of things? Especially when it sounds like you just put in parameters for an AI chat bot to create descriptions and lore with buzzwords thrown in like hotcakes, topped with narration that is both, awful, and sounds again, LIKE AI. The narrator for the intro was insufferable and I had to skip through it. Whoever mixed the audio did terrible job cause I couldn’t hear half the shit he was saying. This game has a bunch of filler and cookie cutter things thrown into it to give the game some “depth” for its otherwise shallow gameplay, mechanics, and immersion. It's also mad tedious and for what? Idk. I was hopeful going into it and actually trying not to be a cynic but was left disappointed. Will be refunding. Maybe I’ll come back to the game for 1.0. Don’t understand how it’s still in EA either with the devs constantly clamoring that they’ve done 12 months of work in 6. It’s basically company motto at this point. That and begging for reviews.
PS: be prepared to sit through a loading screen every single minute you wanna do something that isn’t a dungeon.
Edit: for anyone reading this, take the time to read thru reviews, their comments and dev responses, as well as the discussion boards. Any and all criticism is usually met with passive aggressive responses and underhanded insults that boil down to them and their community calling ya stupid. Disabling comments since their community members and themselves just keep playing victim and going as far as finding me on other social platforms to continue berating me for hurting their feelings. Will be reaching out to Steam.
