Albion Online Review (LittleShoes)
Alright, Albion online..
Combat is pretty snappy and if you don't pay attention, even the weakest mob could kick your ass. Learn to dodge the telegraphs, the timing is tight and if you don't start moving a fraction of a second after it pops up your gonna get beat.
The community... Basically if you've ever played any survival game on a public server, or played another mmo where you saw a crazy racist asshole in the chat and thought "god, he's an idiot. Hope they get banned." that's basically who ALL the people in this game are. At least the ones who participate in chat anyway. Don't engage with the community, you'll save your braincells.
Help is... nonexistent or vague and misleading. People will give you general guidelines like "Go to the BZ to earn fame and silver" first of all... don't. At least don't go to the outlands solo. If you're gonna go Blackzone, do the mists. Slightly safer. Note, not safe, just safer. People will tell you to gather to make the big bucks, then they'll probably say "Start with hide. Don't do stone." Don't, because that's the thing EVERYONE does, yes hide sells for the most usually but you're gonna be competing with everyone else who took their advice. Pick one of the other resource to specialize in. Except stone, they actually are telling the truth on that one.
PvP... if you're just starting out i wish you luck. People have been playing this game for a long time now. They are specced out and geared up. You're gonna have trouble competing for a LONG LONG time. Look into a cheap 4.1 build. (That's tier 4 enchantment level 1) Don't get an enchantment on the bag or cape and use a tier 3 riding horse. Look online for a build that costs sub 60K. You can make 100k in an hour by farming a mix of tier3 and 4 resources in a yellow zone. Buy 4 sets of gear and don't get attached, you're gonna lose em. Gear is disposable, so is your sanity. Also, focus on a build that does good AoE to help farm mobs faster. Preferably with some mobility and sustain. Then once you got that you can switch to farming mobs and never touch gathering again is you so wish.
Escaping gankers is hard at first. Expect to die. Be ready to press the mount button and never move farther than inside your mount when in a blackzone. The moment you see and name on the side of the screen, even if you're still fighting, mount up and run towards and exit. If the ganker was invisible and suddenly appeared... yeah that happens, sorry about your gear, hope you made your money back on it.
Premium is required. Buy the premium and treat albion like a subscription mmo that costs 15 bucks a month. You'll have a better time.
I know this reads more like a guide instead of a review. Sorry bout that. I give Albion online a tentative thumbs up.
Know what you're getting into though. Don't trust anyone. Don't engage with the community and you'll probably have an okay time.
