Banished Review (Shindragan)
So, Medieval Indie SimCity. I dig it.
The first couple of games were super frustrating for me, once people start breaking their tools, starvation and low firewood follows, they begin to die and an evil downward spiral starts and everyone dies, hahaha!
But you got to learn from your mistakes and do research like how to create forest production nodes, the importance of well placed housing and storage and how marketplaces are vital for distribution, the ART of building effective roads to increase efficiency and how to balance education so you have enough laborers but planning for educated population for the future. *chef kiss*
Getting 100% achievements is relatively quick, except for the 200 years one, you could get most of them in under a week, a couple of days if you play daily a lot. Once you get the hang of the game, achievements are very easy too.
Graphics and sound design for the game are fine, this game is pretty old (2014?) but I feel it still holds up today (2022), The tutorials help but the wiki and people who wrote tips for the game really saved me.
I really liked Banished and I hoped it had more interesting achievements like: Survive 10 tornadoes or quell 100 fires, survive a famine, etc, more disaster related ones but it still was a very fun few days.
Banished gets a rating of 34 starving hunter-gatherers out of 40 forest fires.
